Awareness seminar on drug abuse held

Police on Tuesday organized a seminar to spread awareness on drug abuse in the Government Higher Secondary School, Jhajjar Kotli. The seminar was organized by SDPO Nagrota, Yashbir Singh in which SHO Jhajjar Kotli, Vikram Manhas was also present. The students were given tips on the harmful effects of drugs. The school staff was also told about their roles and responsibilities to prevent the students from drug addiction. SDPO Nagrota advised the students to channelise energy in sporting activities to make their future better. He also briefed the students about road safety and asked them to obey traffic rules and make use of dial 100 services when faced with problem/difficulty (self-safety). SDPO Nagrota also distributed volleyball kit and other sports items under civic action programme. During the seminar, students raised many issues likely shortage of teaching staff, unhygienic drinking water, inadequate transport system and dilapidated condition of the road from Jhajjar Kotli to Shurta. SDPO Nagrota assured the students that their problems shall be taken up with concerned agencies for early redressal. School Principal presented vote of thanks.
