Over 30 schools of Jammu took part in the Pratibha–Kala Mela, an inter school competition to revive the dying art, culture and heritage of the State, organised by Richen bZanpo Art Gallery, University of Jammu, which concluded here on Tuesday. At the valedictory function, Th Gulchain Singh Charak, President Dogra Sadar Sabha was the Chief Guest while Dr Meenakshi Kilam, Registrar, University of Jammu was the Guest of Honour. Prof V.S Kohli, Yogesh Ratan and Yogeshwar Singh were the jury members. The event was categorised into two phases i.e, first phase included visual art competition which was subcategorised into painting, sketching, sculpturing, embroidery and art and craft competition. The works of the young artists were displayed in the gallery for seven-days. The second phase included performing art which was subcategorised into dancing, singing and modeling competition. Prof. Anita Billawaria, Director, Richen bZangpo Art Gallery focused on importance of art in competitive life. She said that it was important to preserve art for the evolution of society. Heritage School, G.D Goenka School, Government Girls HSS R S Pura, Co-operative High School Janipur; K.V No. 1 Udhampur, K.V No 1 Akhnoor, K.V No. 2 Jammu Cantonment, K.V Bantalab, Sainik School Nagrota, Jodhamal School, APS Akhnoor, APS Kaluchak, APS Ratnuchak, Jammu Public SchoolSainik Colony, Little Flower HSS, SD TarapuriGandhi Nagar and Carmel Convent School won prizes in various categories. Prof. Suman Jamwal, Director- Women Study Centre and Prof. Jasbir Singh, Chairman NSS were also present. Abhimanyu Dev Singh Billawaria, Director- Communication County presented vote of thanks. Dr. Shikha Choudhary and Cadet Amandeep Singh from Sainik School Nagrota compered the proceedings. Rohit Choudhary, Ajay Khartol and Poonam Sharma from Royal Dogra Club and Diamond Academy and Divine, the Band cooperated in the organisation of the event. Deepak Sharma was the Event Coordinator.
