Agitated over no supply of drinking water for the last more than one month, villagers of Bidda near Jyotipuram today held a strong protest demonstration and blocked the road. Raising slogans against the PHE authorities, the protesting villagers staged a dharna on the Bidda-Reasi road and disrupted vehicular movement for more than four hours. The protesters claimed that there was no supply of drinking water to Bidda village as motor of the tube well was lying damaged for the last one month. "Despite repeated pleas by the villagers to the PHE authorities, no action was taken to repair the damaged motor with the result that people are forced to suffer, they added. The protest dharna continued for more than four hours and the villagers were pacified only after Tehsildar and Police authorities reached the spot. The authorities assured necessary action to ensure the resumption of water supply after which villagers dispersed off.
