State Vice President, Bharatiya Janata Party, Yudhvir Sethi, on Wednesday said that Khadi is recognised as an international brand and every effort must be put in to promote, facilitate and assist in establishment and development of Khadi and Village Industries in rural areas.
He said the Union Government through its Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises also offers a number of schemes for the holistic development and promotion of Khadi in India and abroad.
Yudhvir Sethi was speaking at a function organised by school children and management of Nightingale Pre-School to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti where he was the Chief Guest. Social activist Kewal Wadhera presided over the event.
Yudhvir Sethi lauded the school management in organising an impressive cultural programme under the guidance of school Principal Sonia Jain wherein children highlighted the life of Mahatama Gandhi in different events.
He said we must live to the expectations of our fellow citizens and try to be courteous towards each other. He said the values and principles of Mahatma Gandhi are quite relevant even today which must be followed with conviction. He said if we promote Khadi like Mahatama Gandhi did while launching his ‘Quit India Movement, we can not only adopt to ‘Swadeshi’ products but also generate enough employment in our own country. The union government, he said is working hard to strengthening infrastructure of existing Khadi Institutions and providing assistance for marketing infrastructure by providing Khadi sales outlets.
The youth, he added must get into this venture and seek interest subsidy meant for developing Khadi Village industries.
Wadhera appreciated the school children for their scintillating performance and said that students must be caught young when it comes to imparting moral values to them. He said that such programmes enable students to know our country’s icons and also help them learn our historical facts that helped shape a new and strong India. Earlier, school children dressed as Mahatama Gandhi gave messages of peace and prosperity. They also presented different skits and musical programmes.
Yudhvir Sethi along with school management lit the traditional lamp to begin the programme and was later presented with a memento as a token of remembrance by the school.
