Jammu Division wins overall champions trophy in volleyball

Jammu Division won overall champion trophy in the inter-division volleyball championship in under-14, 17 and 19 categories for girls concluded at Government Degree College ground, here on Wednesday. The tournament was organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports Poonch.
In the final matches played on Wednesday, Jammu defeated their counterparts from Kashmir in all categories.
In under-19 category, Jammu beat Kashmir by 2-0 set (25-18, 25-17) while in under-17, Jammu beat Kashmir by 2-0 sets (25-13, 25-17) and in under-14 age group, Jammu beat Kashmir by 2-1 sets (25-23, 25-20, 15-04) Today’s matches were officiated by Neeraj Kumar, Sourab Sharma, Iklaq, Rameez, Majid Dar, Shafqat Hussian, D.K Raina and Abbass. In the closing ceremony, SHO Poonch, Inspector Amin Choudhary was the Chief Guest who distributed trophies among the winner and runner up teams in the presence of District Sports Officer (DYSS) Mohd Ayaz Khan, Krishan Lal (retd) SO, Zonal Physical Education Officers (ZEPO) Narjeet Singh and Mohd Qasim, Chairman Shaheed Manjit Singh Volleyball Club Poonch, Mohd Tariq Khan, Pawan Kumar, Narinder Singh, Damanpreet Singh and Gurwinder Singh.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest was highly impressed by the organisers of the association to promote volleyball game in the Poonch. He said district have a good talent in this game and especially thanked Mohd Tariq Khan for promoting volleyball game in twin Poonch-Rajouri districts.
