Awareness on women empowerment held

Two days awareness programme on women empowerment was held at Guru Amar Dass Ji Gurudwara premises, Nanak Nagar, here on Thursday.
The programme was organised by Bhupinder Kour, social worker and sponsored by National Board for Worker Education, Minster of Labour and Employment, Regional Directorate, Rehari Colony, Jammu.
On the occasion, Chairman, Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal was the Chief Guest, who threw light on women empowerment and importance of education.
He said educated women can a play pivotal role in eradication of social evils like drug abuse and dowry. He stressed upon women to participate in campaigns like Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Beti Bachao Beti Padao and make other women aware of the importance of such issues.
The programme was conducted by S.A Nazi, In-charge Regional Director (NBWE) Directorate Rehari Colony, Jammu.
Ajit Singh Adyal, President, All J&K Pensioner and Civil Society, Jammu, Ch Dwarak Nath, former Chairman Social Justice Standing Committee, JMC and Ranjeet Singh, President Gurdwara Committee also spoke on the occasion.
Among others who were present include Harbans Singh, Onkar Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Sarwan Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Surjeet Singh.
Later, Bhupinder Kour presented vote of thanks.
