SMVDCoN governing body finalizes arrangements for ‘Tarang-2018’

The 19th meeting of the governing body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, was held here and discussed several matters relating to the future growth and development of this institution.
The governing body finalized the arrangements for 2-day Inter-College Competition “Tarang-2018” by the SMVDCoN for the various Nursing Colleges of the State which is scheduled to be held on 23 and 24 March 2018.
The inaugural function and other events on the first day of the competition will be held at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. The events scheduled for second day will be organized at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, Katra, while the valedictory function of the Inter-College Competition will be held at the Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra. The events to be organized include debate, quiz and on the spot poster competition, sports and cultural programmes.
The meeting chaired by Maj Gen SK Sharma (Retd), Member Shrine Board and chairman of the governing body of the College of Nursing; was attended by Dr MK Bhandari, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu; Jitendra Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board; Dr V Verma, Dean, SMVDU; Dr (Brig) MM Harjai, Administrator; and Dr Shailla Cannie, Principal of the College.
While reviewing various co-curricular activities undertaken by the College during last month, the governing body decided that awareness programmes will be organized by the SMVDCoN in various nearby higher secondary schools regarding hygiene, first-aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques, besides precautions to be taken in the wake of earthquakes as well as other emergency situations by organising lectures.
The 12th class girl students of these educational institutions will also be apprised about the state-of-the-art facilities available for pursuing quality nursing education at the SMVDCoN and nursing as a career option.
