Reviewing facilities at the station here this afternoon, after visiting Katra, the General Manager, who was on his maiden visit here, said, “New platforms will be constructed at Jammu Tawi Railway Station to de-congest rush of visitors.”
“The work will start soon on construction of platforms and it will begin on PPP mode,” said the GM and added, “Nine new platforms and new entry gate will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore”.
He, however, advocated for updating of time table of arrival and departure of trains.
Chaubey also said that washing lines will be increased at the station to avoid rush of trains at the yard.

He also hinted at shifting of Indian Oil Depot from outside the station, asserting that talks with the State government authorities are in the pipeline.
He further said, “After taking over, I couldn’t visit the Katra-Banihal site so far but we are ensuring that the work on this rail project is expedited.” He termed it as challenging task.

Meanwhile, Railway Employees Union also meet him and submitted a memorandum, seeking better facilities at the station, hygienic conditions in staff colony etc.
