JKAACL felicitates Dharmesh Nargotra family in Gharana-17

Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with Doordarshan Kendra, Jammu on Monday felicitated Dharmesh Nargotra family in the Gharana-17, a series of programmes based on the families of the region at Abhinav theatre, here.
Aslam Qureshi, eminent social activist and former IAS officer was the Chief Guest.
Aslam Qureshi, while appreciating Dharmesh Nargotra and family, said that the future of Ghazal in Jammu is bright in the hands of local singers and Dharmesh is one of them.
Earlier delivering his welcome address, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary JKAACL highlighted the future activities of coming events in near future being organised by academy.
Dharmesh Nargotra was born on 25th May, 1967 in the family of Bihari Lal and Kailash Devi in Bagh -e- Bahu, Jammu. He received his earlier education from Government Primary School, Bahu (Jammu) and in 1984 passd matriculation from Maharaja Hari Singh High School, Jammu and did MA Music from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh in 1996. He started learning music from Music Guru Devdildar in 1988. He started professional singing in 1990. Now he is a A Grade artists of Akashwani ,Jammu.
He performed at the national and international level .He also performed on various stages like NZCC, Paitala (Pb)JKAACL. ICCR, Jammu and other organisations.
The artists who sang in the programme were Dharmesh Nargotra, Deeksha Nargotra, Sanchit Kapoor, Azad Fungotra, Suraj Sharma, and Rakesh Jasotra (Flute), Rahul Bharadwaj (Tabla), Vikash Nagar (Guitar), Krishan Kumar (Synth) accompanied as rythm.
Khalid Husain renowned short story writer read out a detailed paper on the life and works of Dharmesh Nargotra and family whereas the proceedings of the programme were conducted by Kusam Tikoo. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Rattan Basotra, Editor Dogri of the Academy and Bishan Dass, Assistant Cultural Officer was the Co-ordinater of the prgoramme.
Dharmesh Nargotra family was also felicitated.
Among others those present included Janak Khajuria, Jang S Varman, Dr Javeid Rahi, Suraj Singh, Kusum Dhar, Suraj Singh, Dr Baljit Raina, Uttam Chand Uttam, Sanjeev Bhasin, Jagdeep Singh, Ashok Sharma, Manjeet Singh Kamra, Rampaul Dogra, Sunil Raina, Sham Talib and Pyaasa Anjum.
