General Secretary of The Batwals of India, R.L Kaith said Lal Chand Yamla had come to Ludhiana from Lyallpur District of Pakistan after partition in 1947 and belonged to Chanjotra clan of Batwal community. “He has recorded over 11 albums many of which produced some of the best loved songs of his generation.
He was also awarded Gold Medal by the then Indian Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in 1956 and a Lifetime Contribution Award in 1989 by National Academy of Dance, Drama and Music, Delhi. Lal Chand Yamla was a strong pillar of Punjabi Music Industry,” Kaith said.
Among others who were present include Punjabi Singer Som Nath Premi Jatt, Chandi Ram, Vicky Kaith, Kuldeep Raj Kaith, Shashi Kumar Advocate, Kusum Chanjotra, Gunni Ram Kaith, Tilak Raj Motan, Bachan Lal Kaith, Ghari Lal Lakhotra, Naib Sarpanch Ram Lal Lakhotra, Panch Narayan Dass Bassa, Gurdas Chand Sargotra, Gian Chand Sandhu, Ram Dass Kaith, Om Parkash Sargotra, Piara Lal Motan, Raj Kumar Kaith, Dev Raj Tugga, Ambu Ram Kaith, Piara Lal Lakhotra, Bua Ditta Sargotra, Joginder Motan, Nand Lal Lakhotra, Krishan Lal Kaith, Hans Raj Bahadur, Mangat Ram Kaith, Daya Ram Kaith, Madan Lal Lakhotra, Ramesh Lal Sandhu, Mohinder Kumar Sandhu, Chaman Lal Kaith, Babu Ram Lakhotra, Gopal Dass Kaith, Raghuvir Lal Lakhotra, Jattin Chanjotra, Surinder Kaith, Rajinder Kaith, Surinder Ramgarhia and Joginder Nandan.
