Training on organic farming by KVK Reasi concludes

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) concluded five days long training programme on organic farming/natural farming/cow based economy/sustainable agriculture on Friday at Organic Training Centre, Talwara in Reasi District.
KVK, Reasi imparted the training on organic farming to the first batch of 30 farmers from different areas who participated in the programme for the five days. The programme was sponsored by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi under Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhaya Unnat Krishi Shiksha Yojana. The programme was organised under the guidance of Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr.P.K Sharma and Associate Director Extension (ADE) and Incharge of all the KVKs, Dr.R.K Arora of SKUAST-J. DDM, NABARD, Reasi Adarsh Gupta guided about the marketing channels for the organic farm produce. Gopal Krishen, Agriculture Extension Officer, Reasi highlighted the economic viability of organic farming. Ravi Sharma, Agriculture Extension Officer, highlighted Soil Health Cards scheme and urged farmers to get their soil tested. Director Alpha Environmental Systems Pvt, Ltd., Sumair Sapru explained the use of Farm Yard Manures (FYM), vermicompost, biofertlisers, biofungicides, biopesticides, cow urine, green manuring etc. in the soil for the commercial organic farming. Dr. Sanjay Kaushal, scientist explained the crops rotation, pulses production, multiple cropping, microbial cultures etc. in the organic farming. Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi, scientist elaborated the scientific cultivation of organic horticulture and stressed on commercial organic horticulture. Dr. Amrinder Kumar spoke on the doubling the farmers income by the adoption of commercial organic farming.
Hans Raj and Subash Chander, progressive organic crops grower shared their experiences on organic farming with the other farmers. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal and concluded by Dr. Sanjay Kaushal with vote of thanks.
