LC passes Bill to establish JK Higher Education Council

The Upper House on Tuesday passed “A Bill to Provide for the Establishment and Constitution of State Higher Education Council for enforcing, planning, monitoring, evaluation and quality assurance in Universities and other Higher Educational Institutions of the State and for the matters connected therewith and incidental thereto (L.A. Bill NO.1 of 2018)”.
Earlier, the Bill was moved by the Minister of State for Education Priya Sethi. The House passed the bill with a voice vote.
The Upper House also passed “A Bill to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Ayurvedic and Unani Practitioners Act, 1959 (L.A. Bill No.2 of 2018)”.
Earlier, the Bill was moved by the Minister of State for Education Priya Sethi on behalf of Minister for Health and Medical Education, Bali Bhagat. Later, the Bill was passed with a voice vote.
The Upper House also passed “A Bill to provide for the protection, conservation and development of fisheries in the state and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto (L.A. Bill No.4 of 2018)”.
The Bill was moved by the Minister for Animal, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, Abdul Gani Kohli and passed with a voice vote.
The House also passed “A Bill to Amend the Jammu and Kashmir Land Revenue Act-Samvat 1996 (L. A Bill No: 8 of 2018).”
Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Hanjura moved the bill on behalf of Minister for Revenue, Hajj & Auqaf, Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Rehman Veeri. The Bill was passed with a voice vote.
