The Nowshera agitation for district status under the banner of ‘Beopar Mandal Nowshera’ entered day 5 on Tuesday but the government is completely unmoved. The protest has affected the education of Children, work in the government offices, banking and other establishments. The total silence of the government has given impetus to the struggle and the public of every village of Nowshera Constituency right up to the extreme border has come on road to intensify the protest.
“Besides the general public and the organisation already active in the protest, the elderly people of the society have also come out to protest against the deaf and dumb Coalition Government whose whole concentration is in the Valley to talk about the human rights of stone pelters ignoring to give justice to the people of other corners of the State”, said Uttam Chand Sharma President ‘Veteran Citizens Forum’. He said that people of Nowshera who are law abiding citizens of the country are pursuing their genuine demands strictly in terms of the Constitution of India but if they are continuously ignored, they will be left with no option but to close the National Highway and other roads and offer themselves to scarify their lives for the fulfillment of their most genuine demand of District status for Nowshera.
The protesters continued to sit on Dharna and later took out a rally which passed through various Chowks raising slogans in favour of their genuine demand. Prominent among those who spoke include Subash Kapoor, Jagdish Chander Sahney, AshoK Sharma, Prithipal Singh, Adv Haq Nawaz Choudhary, Roshan Lal, Babu Ram, Sarpanch Bindu Choudhary, Sarpanch Manjit Singh and dozens of others.
Meanwhile the President District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Bhopinder Singh Tiger and President Gurdwara Chhati Patshahi Nowshera Balwinder Singh assured full support to the agitation and said that free Langar will be served to the protesters till the continuance of the agitation.
