Symposium on domestic violence, drug abuse held

A workshop cum symposium was held at Govt. Degree College, Kalakote on the topic ‘Domestic Violence and Drug Abuse’ on Tuesday. Khalid Hussain ADC, Kalakote was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who in his address emphasized that it is need of the hour to organise such events on vital issues particularly on ‘drug abuse’ by inviting the parents of the students as well. He also dwelt about the technical issues and legal aspect of domestic violence resulting due to drug abuse.
Earlier Prof. Youdhvir Singh, Principal of the College emphasised that the misuse or abuse of drugs is the big causes of family disputes and disturbances leading to an unhappy family at large. He advised the students to be the beacon light in the society to dispel this darkness of consequent domestic violence so as to create a congenial society worth living for our future generations.
Vipan Kachhroo (Resource Person) threw light on legal aspects of the topic and the serious consequences of drug abuse. Students displayed a skit and presented cultural programme related to the theme. Principal Govt. Higher. Sec. School, Kalakote and Manager J&K Bank Kalakote were also present. The event was attended by the faculty members namely, B.L Thakur, Sunita Kumari, Anayat Ullah Khan, Archana Sharma, Dr. Stanzin Namgail and Sachin Kumar Bhagat. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Nasir while Prof. B.L Thakur presented the vote of thanks.
