18 months jail for attempt to outrage modesty of woman

Judicial Magistrate, Ist Class Billawar R.K Tadyal awarded 18 months imprisonment and fine of Rs. 2,000 to one Mohinder Singh son of Sadha Ram resident of Parents Morh, Tehsil Billawar facing trial in a case of assault/criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty under section 354 /341/323 RPC.
According to the case, the accused Mohinder Singh caught hold off the arm of victim Manisha Devi on July 14, 2011 on her way back home from tuition at a lonely place in Mahanpur with an intent to outrage her modesty. The woman raised alarm when some villagers grazing cattle in the area heard the noise and reached to her safety. The accused ran away from the place leaving back his motorcycle.
Later, the victim made a complaint in the Police Station and a case under Sections 354, 323 and 341 was registered against the accused. After investigation the Challan was produced in the court of JMIC Billawar.
The JMIC after hearing the Prosecuting Officer Choudhary Asif Iqbal appearing for the State found the accused guilty of the charges under aforesaid sections. The JMIC R. K Tadyal convicted the accused and awarded him simple imprisonment of one year and six months and a fine of Rs 2,000 for commission of the offence.
