‘Oil industry planning to shift depots to other location’

DGP Dr S.P Vaid chaired maiden Onshore Security Coordination Committee meeting here on Friday.
The meeting was convened by B.K Ravi, Advisor (Security), Indian Oil in which P.K Hooda, CGM, Punjab State Office were also present.
The meeting was also attended by senior officials from J&K Police, district administration, paramilitary forces, State intelligence unit and oil industry officials.
The meeting was conducted in view of prevailing security scenario in the country and continued inputs indicating threat to oil and gas installations/Infrastructure as adequate security at these installations has become imperative.
CGM, PSO in his welcome address gave an overview of oil and gas installations in the State along with upcoming infrastructure projects. He also emphasized upon the coordination between oil industry officials and state security agencies for safety and security of oil industry installations. He also termed this meeting as a great platform for inter departmental liasionings. He informed about oil industry planning to shift oil depots from congested area of Jammu to other location.
After shifting of oil depots to other location, the same will be connected through pipeline and will become self-sufficient and further feed to Leh and Ladakh region. He further briefed about LPG penetration in J and K under PMUY.
Advisor (Security), in his inaugural address, briefed about the structure of OSCC, where DGP of State is Chairman of OSCC. He further explained the structure of IOCL and objective of OSCC to work under integrated and collaborative approach with all the stakeholders and close proximity with local administration and oil company official, this required quick and timely sharing of information among the partner to build a situational awareness to take corrective action at the time on any unforeseen situation.
DGP Dr SP Vaid explained that Jammu and Kashmir is comprised of three main regions viz Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. He also appreciated the penetration of LPG in Jammu and Kashmir as compared to other states. He also assured for the safety and security of oil installations, oil transportation within the State. He also assured all sort of help and assistance required to safety and security of the oil installation in the State.
The meeting concluded with closing address by Chairman OSCC & DGP, J&K followed by vote of thanks by GM (Security), IOCL.
