Every year a farmer puts his enormous efforts and toil in the cultivation of his agricultural land in order to get fruitful results out of it, but unfortunately, this has been a culture of ruining the crop by the natural powers and to destroy the crop by the unseasonal rains. Which in turn leads to a drastic setback for the farmers.
April is the time when a lot of excitement can be seen among farmers and among the people of northern India. As it is time to celebrate Baisakhi which is related to harvesting of crops. But sadly, untimely rains almost brings the celebrations and joy to a standstill and crashes the hearts of every farmer into pieces.
Some farmers even try to kill themselves a few of them are not strong enough to handle this ecological menace.
Even this, year rainfall with hailstorm may have some adverse effect on the quality of the grain. But, thankfully as per the agriculture ministry so far there is no report from the states of crops being damaged or ruined.
The weather office said in its latest forecast that thundershowers along with gusty wind are “very likely” in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and adjoining regions for three days.
Roller Flour Millers Federation of India president Divya Agarwal said it has asked association members in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana to assess the impact of rain on the crop.
The welfare of farmers was a key thrust area in this year’s budget by finance minister Arun Jaitley. The government also urged and promised to use a farmer-friendly formula to determine the minimum support price for grains.
Let's keep our fingers crossed and hope for a better horizon for our farmers and we pray and wish to have a prosperous and smooth Baisakhi. Happy Baisakhi to all our readers.
