In what can be termed as the highhandedness of shopkeepers at the Kashmir’s biggest 50 bedded Unani Hospital Shalteng on Srinagar outskirts, Hospital wall was broken to pave way for entrance for patients to their shops. This all happened under the nose of higher authorities of Hospital, who preferred to remain silent.
From morning to evening, sitting idle at his approved medical shop in the premises of the Hospital as no customer is visiting to his shop which now become far for the customers as they preferred to visit the private medical shops as the concrete wall has been broken, speaks of big nexus between the Medical Superintendent and the medical shops outside the hospital.
The owner of the approved Fair price shop told STATE TIMES, “It is visible, and all the officers know it well that the concrete wall has been broken illegally. They can re-construct this broken wall within an hour but they are reluctant. How can a private medical shop break the Hospital wall without having the support of higher authorities?”
The private Medical shops, which are constructed at the backside of the Unani Hospital have broken the concrete wall to create an easy way for customers, he alleged.
“I have informed the Medical Superintendent of the hospital several times to look into the matter but all goes in vain. It seems that he is not interested in this matter. The necessary actions should be taken against people involved in the nexus,” owner of the fair price shop added.
The doctors rooms and Out Patients Wards (OPD) are very close these shops.
“When the wall was not broken, patients used to visit fair price shop which is constructed at the main entrance of the hospital. But after private shop owners have broken the wall they are looting the patients by charging the high rates of medicines prescribed by the doctors,” he added.
Director Indian System of Medicine(ISM), Neeraj Kumar told STATE TIMES, “I have recently assumed the charge of ISM. I ensure that the broken wall of the hospital premises will be re-constructed soon.”
