Modi Govt failed to ensure safety of border dwellers: Former Dy CM

Senior Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand on Monday visited the border areas Pargwal sector and took stock of the problems being faced by people.
Tara Chand lashed out at the Modi government and strongly condemned Pakistan for targeting civilian population deep inside, which is violation of international norm and said that Modi led BJP Government has miserably failed to ensure safety and security of border residents in the State. He also lashed out at BJP-PDP Government for its unsympathetic and insensitive attitude towards border area people, as none of the ministers visited the area which has become the worst target of Pakistan shelling and the villagers are in fear because because government has not set-up proper information channnels to apprise them about arrangements for shifting them to safer place.
Tara Chand who was first leader to visit the area to enquire about the injured said that there is lot of panic and anger amongst people over the failure of government to control Pakistan from resorting to shelling time and again, as a result the border residents are between the devil and deep sea.
Senior Congress leader strongly criticised Modi government for its utter failure to deal with Pakistan during the four years of its regime and Pakistan has caused huge loss in terms of human lives and property during the peace time with number of causalities and record number of ceasefire violations, which are the highest during Modi regime as compared to last 70 years in any peace time other than the three wars. Tara Chand said that since independence the people of border area have been suffering. They were uprooted in 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak wars and after that they have been facing migration every now and then, he added. He said that the demand of the border area people for 5 marlas plots at safer place is quite genuine.
“The previous NC- Congress Government has started the process of allotment of plots and the present government has also promised the same but nothing has been done in this regard,” he added.
Tara Chand demanded that government should allot plots to the border residents at safer places besides, monetary help of Rs 10 lakh to each family be provided for construction of shelters. He also demanded Rs 20 lakh as compensation to each civilian casualty and Rs 5 lakh as compensation to each injured in the firing besides the adequate relief for the loss of crops and cattle given to the affected people. He also demanded RBA status to the people residing within the radius of 5 Kilometers of border.
