Irked over irregular supply of water, residents of Railway Colony on Friday stopped a train at the City’s Railway Station.
A large number of people from the nearby Railway Colony gathered at the platform and began agitating in front of the train to press for their demands of adequate water and power supply. The protesters raised slogans against the authorities and demanded immediate restoration of water supply to the colony, they added.
The residents of Railway Colony asserted that for the last twenty days they are not getting the regular water supply but the authorities are not listening to their woes failing which they have been forced to come in front to raise their plight.
They asserted that number of times they highlighted the matter regarding the scarcity of water but no one took this matter seriously.
“The authorities of Northern Railways didn’t resolve our problems despite repeated requests. More than 350 families are deprived of the drinking water facility,” alleged a railway employee.
Pertinent to mention here, that the residents had also stopped the Swaraj Express Train on June 5 for about 20 minutes to highlight their grievances.
