Natrang stages play ‘Kafan’

JAMMU, Aug 19: Theatre group ‘Natrang’ here today staged the play ‘Kafan’ which is based on dramatic presentation of Munshi Prem Chand’s short story.
The play was directed by Neeraj Kant and it is a very precise satire on the degradation of human values.
The play revolves around a father and his son who works as labourers in a village. The son’s wife is pregnant and in need of medical attention, which the family cannot afford. Ultimately, the lady dies and now the problem is how to perform her last rites. Anyhow after some effort the father-son got some money as help from villagers but when it came to the purchase shroud, they changed their mind and purchased liquor consoling their sinful souls that what would a dead woman do with a piece of cloth. The play very emotionally exposes the monster of alcoholism.
The artists who performed in the play included Shivam Singh, Sheetal Jadhan, Ajay Kumar Lalotra, Manoj Kumar Lalotra, Zeeshan Haider, Abhijeet Sharma, Ravees Khan, Rahul Gupta and Rakshit Arora.
The supporting staff included Shivam Singh, Neeraj Kant, Aafaque Khan, Vrinda Sharma and Mohd Yaseen.
