Gurha Mundian Club lifts boys title, GDC Hiranagar A wins girls trophy

HIRANAGAR: Gurha Mundian volleyball Club lifted boys title while Government Degree College (GDC) Hiranagar A won girls trophy in the 30th Distt Kathua Volleyball Championship organized by district association under the aegis of Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir.
In boys final, Gurha Mundian Club defeated Upper Mela Club by 3-1 (23-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-17). Earlier in semi-final matches, Gurha Mundian defeated Volleyball Club Garah by 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-21) and Upper Mela trounced Volleyball Club Bhaiya by 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-19).
In the girls final, GDC Hiranagar A defeated GDC Hiranagar B by 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-16).
In the valedictory function, Ajit Bawa President Industrial Units Association Kathua was the Chief Guest who distributed the prizes among players of winner and runner-up teams.
Ajit Bawa also gave Rs. 21,000 to District Volleyball Association Kathua for promotion of the game in the district.
President, Volleyball Association of Jammu and Kashmir, Sidharth Daluja, who presided over the function, also gave Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively to winner and runner-up teams.
Large number of people of the area witnessed the well contested matches.
Prominent persons among others present were Girdhari Lal Chalotra Ex-MLA Hiranagar, O.P Sharma, Lal Man Sharma, Bal Krishan Girdhawar (Retd), Manoj Sharma, Des Raj Sharma besides office-bearers of district association namely M.L Toofan, Mohiñder Kumar, Ram Lal, Madan Lal, Attar Singh and Keshav Sharma.
Association members expressed their gratitude to Hans Raj Pangotra who allowed use of his land at Hiranagar Morh for hosting the championship.
