KATRA: The eight days long Navratra Festival in the holy town of Katra came to musical conclusion last evening with Kaustubh from Rajasthan and Khushi Shubh from Chamba, Himachal Pradesh bagging the prestigious first prize jointly in mega final of All India Devotional Song Competition.
The competition was jointly organised by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, J&K Tourism in association with ShradhaMh One and J&K Bank.
The function concluded amidst chanting of Bhajans and beating of drums at Yog Ashram Complex last night.
Anmol Raja from Punjab took second place and third position was held by Sukhjinderjit from Amritsar. In the competition 11 candidates reached in the mega final.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Simrandeep Singh was Chief Guest on the occasion whereas former Advisor to Governor Parvez Dewan, noted Bollywood and media personalities including Managing Director Venus Records and Tapes Ltd. Ganesh Jain, famous play back singers Pawani Panday and Balkar Sidhu, Vice President Zee Network Barkha Arora, were the judges of the mega final.
Operation Head Mh One Group Savita Jhangani and Consultant Colours TV Pankaj Bagrecha were special invitees on the occasion.
Chief Guest Simrandeep Singh, Parvez Dewan, Deputy Commissioner Reasi Prasanna Ramaswami, Director Tourism, Jammu O.P Bhagat, Chairman Devotional Song Committee, President Hotel Association Rakesh Wazir and Commandant CRPF Jitender Kumar Gupta gave away prizes worth Rs. 3 lakh in the shape of gold to the first prize winner Kaustubh and Khushi Shubh, gold worth 1 lakh to second position holder Anmol Raja and gold worth Rs 50,000 to third position holder Sukhjinderjit in presence of SDM Katra Ashok Choudhary, CEO Katra Development Authority S.P Mehra, Programming Head 98.3 Radio Mirchi, Khushboo Mattoo, Yog Acharya Swami Yoga Nand Maharaj, Shyam Lal Kesar and Virender Kesar.
Simrandeep Singh said that this competition has attained good heights and complimented the organisers for the same and thanked all the people and organisations for extending their cooperation in making it a grand success and especially the people from film and media fraternity who make it a point in coming over here and supporting it.
O.P Bhagat said that leaving aside providing platform to the singers, the live telecast of the event all over the world has given vast publicity to the event and tourism of State and Jammu region in particular adding, “We feel that with this we have been able to convince the people in coming to the State and seeing the places of tourist interest around Katra and this area is as peaceful as any part of the world.”
Rakesh Wazir compered the proceedings of the programme.
Renowned Bollywood Singers Pawni Pandey and Balkar Sidhu, who were special invitees on the occasion, gave their live performances on the occasion and captivated the audience with their melodious voices.
The competition was successful with the active support of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Specialty Hospital, Surya Milk, Pure Roots Herbal, Nidesh Builders Private Limited Jammu, Divinity, Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM, PHDCCI, Yog Ashram Trust, District Administration and the local host community.
