JAMMU: Vriddhi Royals won cricket tournament organised by Col R.N Chopra Cricket Academy under the supervision of Sukomal Ganguly, here on Thursday.
In the final played today, Vriddhi Royals outplayed Elite Tigers by 18 runs.
Batting first after winning the toss, Vriddhi Royals scored 148 for the loss of ten wickets in 30.2 overs of a 35 overs game. Harsh Singh was the top scorer with 55 runs followed by Shavac Makin and Pawandeep, who contributed 25 and 24 runs respectively. For Elite Tigers, Utkarsh Pandita was the most successful bowler who claimed four wickets while Aquib and Brigu took two each.
In reply, Elite Tigers was bundled out for 130 in 30.3 overs. Anmol was the top scorer with 32 runs while Yuvraj and Sachin made 29 and 18 runs respectively. For Vriddhi Royals, Vasu grabbed four important wickets while Tegvansh, Abhay and Aditya took two each.
Vasu Sharma of Vriddhi Royals was declared Man of the Match.
In the closing and prize distribution ceremony, Ranjeet Kalra, Advisor for Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Lakshadweep and Co-Chairman Sports Council of Central University of Jammu, was the Chief Guest and Rajesh Gill, JKCA member and former Ranji player was the Guest of Honour who gave away trophies to winner and runner-up teams besides individual players. Shivam Koul was declared best batsman, Utkarsh Pandita-best bowler, Ashutosh and Adhijay- Best Fielders and Aquib Rather was adjudged Man of the Tournament.
The Chief Guest appreciated the effort of the organisers for conducting such tournaments and also congratulated the winner and the runner-up teams. He also encouraged the players to perform well and make our State and India proud.
Today’s match was officiated by the technical panel comprising Deepak Singh, Pankaj and Sujit.
