Begusarai Police have arrested seven people for allegedly assaulting four students living in a private hostel and forcing two of them to strip. The accused had allegedly been asking inmates of the hostel, comprising students from Class X till graduation level, to buy water from their RO water plant.

The matter came to light after videos of the incident went viral two days ago and Union minister and RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha visited the hostel Saturday.

Police said the incident took place on October 24 in Town Police station area of Begusarai. A businessman who set up an RO water plant near the hostel had allegedly been pressuring students to buy water from his plant. When four students argued with owners of the plant and their supporters, they were allegedly beaten up.

In one video, two boys are seen stripping under threat from the accused. One of the victims has told police that the accused told him to engage in “unnatural sex” with another inmate.

SP Awkash Kumar said, “We have booked 12 people, most of them in early 20s. We have got the medical examination of the boys done. We have arrested seven youths under IPC and Arms Act. We are not sure if inmates were forced to have unnatural sex. If medical report suggests this, we will request the court to add relevant sections to the case.” The SP said the hostel boys were being pressured to buy water from the plant. “We have gathered video footage and are studying them. The boys were admitted to a local hospital and are recovering fast.”

RLSP chief Kushwaha, who visited the hostel, said, “We want speedy trial. Such an incident must be taken seriously.”
