Jammu Heritage Society (JHS) urged the Mayor JMC, Chander Mohan Gupta to make all possible efforts for development of major heritage buildings and sites in Jammu. In a programme held here on Tuesday at Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, the Society members submitted a memorandum to the Mayor, Chander Mohan Gupta, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion while Neeraj Puri, JMC Councilor from Trikuta Nagar was the Guest of Honour.
Bhuvneshwar Gandotra, President of the Society presented welcome address.
During the programme, the members highlighted various points included in the memorandum, which included garbage collection on door-to-door basis, conversion of over-ground bins into underground bins with sensors, so that when they got 70 per cent filled, automatic signal is sent to concerned for their clearance, making function all defunct street-lights on flyovers and major roads from Railway Station to Channi Himmat, repairing leakage in PHE water pipes, development of major heritage building and sites of Jammu, development of children parks with modern facilities, completion of Tawi River Front project on war footing, holding regular drives to make Jammu defecation-free besides developing roads and lanes of Jammu on pattern of Ahmadabad and Surat.
The Mayor gave them a patient hearing and assured that most of their demands have already been undertaken by the Government and will be fulfilled at the earliest.
Ajesh Rohmetra, General Secretary conducted the proceedings while Manish Gupta, General Secretary Chamber of Commerce presented formal vote of thanks.
Others present on the occasion included Amit Goel (Treasurer), Om Prakash Mahajan (Chairman), Sanjay Mahajan (Secretary), Ravinder Mittal (Executive Member), Paras Gupta, Jaswinder Singh Bedi (General Secretary, Railway Station Hotels and Lodges Association), Rajinder Saraf (General Secretary, Shiv Market Railway Station) and Varinder Khurana.
