NSA Doval chairs meeting on Kashmir

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval led a state meeting on Thursday to talk about issues concerning Kashmir, including the approaching Amarnath Yatra and pending Assembly decision, authorities said.

The gathering was gone to by Advisor to Governor Vijay Kumar, State Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat, Director General of CRPF R Bhatnagar and Director General of Police Dilbag Singh, they said.

This is the principal meeting of Doval on Kashmir in the wake of accepting the charge of National Security Advisor for a second term on June 2.

During the gathering, the overarching security circumstance in Kashmir was explored, particularly in perspective on the yearly Amarnath Yatra which starts on July 1 this year, they said.

The gathering comes days after the Election Commission made a declaration that surveys to the State Assembly will be held after the Amarnath Yatra, they said.

In an announcement, the survey board had said it consistently chosen that "holding of gathering races in Jammu and Kashmir will be viewed as later in this year".

Dismissing the worries of security communicated by state authorities, the Election Commission was of the view that if the Lok Sabha surveys could be held, there ought to be no issue in holding the decisions to the state Assembly.

Jammu and Kashmir does not have a chosen regulation since the PDP-BJP alliance government fell in June 2018.

The state is under the President's standard which will lapse on June 19 after which the Center is probably going to broaden it by an additional a half year.

While no dates of races have been reported, authorities conscious of the advancement feel that the decisions are probably going to occur at some point in November this year.
