Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society holds workshop on ‘Green Ganesha’ campaign

Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society (TNWS) in collaboration with Disha Foundation organised a workshop on ‘Green Ganesha’ campaign here on Sunday.
On the occasion, Anuradha Gupta, Scientist SPCB Division Jammu was the Chief Guest while Councilor Neeraj Puri was the Guest of Honour.
During the programme, members of Disha Foundation imparted awareness about eco-friendly Ganesha idols for environment conservation. They also distributed free clay Murtis of Ganesha among members of Trikuta Nagar Welfare Society.
Rajinder P Kakkar, President TNWS, appealed to people of Jammu city in general and Trikuta Nagar in particular to celebrate this year’s Ganpati festival with eco-friendly Ganesha idols.
Rajni Rohmetra, Joint Secretary said that Ganpati festival is one of the main festivals celebrated joyfully across the country. “As going green is the new mantra, people should say no to Ganpati idols made of chemicals, plaster of paris, plastics, thermocol (polystyrene) and go for idols made of natural and biodegradable materials so that after immersion (Visarjan), it do not pollute water and surroundings. Various natural products can be used to make Ganpati idols including clay, coconut, natural colours etc,” she asserted. Later, Councilor Neeraj Puri presented formal vote of thanks. Others present on the occasion included S N Kaul, Vijay Gupta, V K Ojha and Ashok Kumar Arora (Patron TNWS Jammu).
