Ravindra Jadeja on Friday picked up his 200th Test wicket when he dismissed Dean Elgar on Day 3 of the ongoing 1st Test vs visitors South Africa. Dean Elgar went for a sweep but ened up ballooning the ball high in the air towards mid-wicket and Cheteshwar Pujara took a fine forward diving catch to hand Jadeja his 200th Test wicket.

Jadeja has now become the fastest among the left-handers to reach the feat In doing so, the left-armer also became only the 10th Indian bowler to the 200-wickets mark.

What makes Jadeja's achievement unique is that he now boasts of the best bowling average (24.20) amongst all the Indians to have taken 200 or more Test wickets. Jadeja is now 6th on the list of Indian spinners with the most wickets in the longest format.

His spin partner and the highest wicket-taker in the current team, Ravichandran Ashwin who took his 200th scalp in his 37th game is the only one lying above Jadeja. Harbhajan Singh is the next on this list having taken 200 wickets by his 46th Test.
