Union Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel paid obeisance at Gurdwara Ber Sahib this morning. He also visited a local railway station where the Union Culture Ministry has put up a photo exhibition and is also showcasing a short film describing the life and teachings of Guru Nanak.

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh launched the 550th Gurpurb celebrations by performing sewa during the initiation of that path, jointly organized by the state government, Sikh religious organizations and Sant Samaj here today.

The CM carried Guru Granth Sahib on his head and placed it in the palanquin. Sufi singer Harshdeep Kaur recited her newly released Shabad “Mere Sahiba”. After her performance, hazuri ragis of Darbar Sahib performed recited “Gurbani”.

He, along with Charanjit Singh Channi, released four books related to Guru Nanak’s philosophy, penned and edited by acclaimed Punjabi writers, including Surjit Patar.
The CM also inaugurated two exhibitions featuring relics, manuscripts and rare books associated with the Guru’s life.

He announced a new administrative complex and Rs 150-crore ring road around Sultanpur Lodhi to enhance its connectivity with other cities.
