The state government has made the registration mandatory for government and non-government organisations, which provide free housing, food, education, medical facilities to needy children for their protection and care.

Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, Director, Social Security and Women and Child Development Departments, said these institutions were required to register themselves under section 41 (1) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015. She said if any NGO was working on the above task and had not yet been registered, should immediately contact the district programme officer or district child development officer and submit documents before December 31 for registration.

She said that after the due date, if any unregistered organisation was found working, strict action would be taken under Section 42 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
