Bajaj Auto today launched the Chetak electric scooter in India for an introductory price of Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom). With the launch of the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter, the moniker "Chetak" makes a comeback after nearly 15 years. The two-wheeler maker will start the sales of the new Chetak scooter in Pune and Bengaluru first. Bajaj Chetak will not only be sold in India, but exported to European markets as well.

Unveiled in India in October 2019, the new Chetak is the maiden electric product of the two-wheeler maker to be launched in India and is available in six colour options. It will be sold from select KTM dealerships. Below are the variant-wise price (ex-showroom) details of the Chetak electric scooter.

Powering the new Chetak electric scooter is a 4kW motor that develops 16 Nm of peak torque. It comes with an IP67-rated 3kWh (48V, 60.3 AH) lithium-ion battery, which can be charged using a 15 amp electrical outlet. The battery can be fully juiced up in five hours and up to 25 per cent in an hour. The charger is complimentary and it will be installed at the customer's house. The claimed battery life is 70,000 km.

According to Bajaj Auto, the new Chetak's range is 95 km in the Eco mode and 85 km in the Sport mode. Bajaj Chetak comes with an overall warranty of three years or 50,000 km. The scheduled service is at an interval of one year or 12,000 km. The two-wheeler maker is providing three free services with the electric scooter.

Bajaj Chetak electric scooter gets a sheet metal body. It comes with features like satin chrome bezel-surrounded digital instrument console, LED headlamp, horseshoe-shaped LED DRL, front LED turn indicators, rear sequential LED blinkers, reverse riding mode, keyless ignition and regenerative braking system. The new Chetak is a fully connected electric scooter that provides details like charge status, remaining range and location. Also, the owner will be notified in case of an unauthorised movement, charge start/complete/stop and accident/defect.
