2020 has begun and BBK Electronics has already started bombarding the Indian market with new phones. Vivo came up with its S1 Pro a few weeks ago and now Oppo has come up with its first phone for users under the Rs 20,000 price tag.

It's the latest instalment in the F series of smartphones, called the F15 and brings in a couple of upgrades over last year's popular F11 series. For now, there's only a single F15 coming to India that you can buy for Rs 19,990, with no information on a Pro variant.

Oppo has been touting the F15 as a choice for those who like style and design. The F15 focuses on getting a modern gradient design along with upgrades that improve the performance. Oppo has given the phone a bigger AMOLED display with an in-display fingerprint sensor, the 20W VOOC 3.0 fast-charging system and a 48-megapixel quad-camera system at the back.

The Oppo F15 gets a bigger 6.4-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The display has an aspect ratio of 20:9 which means it is narrow yet tall. The display gets a small notch on the top to house the selfie camera on the top while there's a noticeable chin at the bottom. Users also get an embedded in-display fingerprint sensor for quick biometric verification. However, the front camera also helps with a face unlock system.

Underneath, the Oppo F15 relies on a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset that's paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage as standard. This is the same chipset from last year's Oppo F11 Pro. Despite being launched in 2020, the Oppo F15 comes with ColorOS 6.1 based on Android 9 Pie out of the box. Oppo hasn't anything about an OS upgrade to Android 10 so far.
That said, the F15 gets several special software features, including a special GameBooster 2.0 that claims to improve gaming performance. Users will also be able to customise the UI with themes, wallpapers and icon packs.

When it comes to the cameras, the Oppo F15 gets a quad-camera system at the back. The F15 gets a 48-megapixel main camera accompanied by an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera as well as a 2-megapixel depth camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. For selfies, there's a 16-megapixel camera in the front.
To keep the phone alive, Oppo has given it a 4000mAh battery that's paired with Oppo's 20W VOOC 3.0 fast-charging system.

The phone will go on sale in India from January 24 on Amazon and Flipkart. The Oppo F15 will be available in Unicorn White and Lightening Black.
