Union Railway and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, while describing Jammu and Kashmir as the jewel of the country, said that the Center will soon bring an industrial package for this Union Territory and hoped that it will bring a huge amount of investment in the Valley.

He also announced that Kashmir would be connected by rail with the rest of the country by December next year. He was speaking to reporters at the local airport on Sunday before returning to Delhi after the state tour. Earlier, he dedicated the drain and indoor stadium at Jio Pota Ghat in Akhnoor to the public at a cost of twenty lakhs. Goyal asserted that development work has intensified in Jammu and Kashmir, especially after 18 June 2018, when the former state was under President's rule.

He added, I am very happy with the development work that I have seen on the land and I am confident that this process will continue without stopping in the coming days and months. We will soon bring an industrial package and we expect a huge amount of investment in Kashmir.

Goyal came here under a special program launched by the central government to make people aware of the potential benefits to Jammu and Kashmir after repealing most of the provisions of Article 370.

Goyal said, We used to hear from childhood that Kashmir is a paradise on earth, I am proud that it will soon appear in its former condition. Jammu and Kashmir is the jewel of the country and I am proud of it.
