Security has been extended throughout Jammu and Kashmir to deal with the possibility of any major attack planned by the terrorists during Republic Day. The security arrangements of both the capital cities and all-important security establishments including the Srinagar-Jammu highway were reviewed and strengthened on Monday. Apart from this, patrolling has also been increased in areas along the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border.

However, officially the police and other security agencies have not confirmed any conspiracy of terrorists in the state on the occasion of Republic Day. However, according to relevant security sources, at this time, terrorists are looking for a chance to execute a major attack. They are constantly being pressured from across the border. Apart from this, recently caught terrorists Naveed Babu and terrorist Jahangir caught in Avantipora have also revealed such conspiracies in interrogation

Security of all important government establishments in Jammu and Srinagar has been tightened to deal with the terrorist threat. Special barriers are being put on all the routes of the Srinagar movement. Proper arrangements have been made by dividing the highway into separate zones. Apart from this, the security of all military and security installations has also been increased. Sources said that security agencies are taking full precautions within Jammu city and in the border areas adjoining Jammu. Police in different parts of Jammu city are checking the vehicles and people passing by.

Anti-terror operations were also carried out In view of Republic Day in the militancy affected areas of Jammu and Kashmir division, the security agencies have also intensified their counter-insurgency operations. The officials concerned said that CCTV cameras have also been activated at all the major cities, towns and places identified on the highway. Officers of Police, CRPF, Army and Civil Administration are constantly taking appropriate steps by meeting and reviewing the situation to maintain an atmosphere of law and order and security.
