Thalsen President General MM Narwane asked officers and jawans of the Northern Command of the Army to continue their vigilance campaign to thwart the enemy's plans. The Army Chief, who visited Jammu and Kashmir for the first time after becoming the Army Chief, appreciated his contribution while addressing soldiers and officers at Udhampur, Northern Command Headquarters today. In the meantime, continuing the campaign against terrorism, along with maintaining a lasting peace, the northern commanders were also asked to provide all assistance to the remote people facing hardships from the snowfall.

Earlier, the Army Chief held a meeting with senior officials to discuss the current security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir and the steps being taken to face them. The Army Chief will visit Rajouri district of Jammu division in the afternoon and also take information about the security situation of the Line of Control. The Army is facing Pakistani shelling along the Line of Control and also denying the conspiracy to infiltrate terrorists from Pakistan.

According to military sources, the Army Chief will also visit Nagrota, the headquarters of the 16th Corps of the Army today. 16 Corps are handling the security of the Jammu division. On the final day of his two-day visit today, General MM Narwane will also meet Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu in Jammu before returning to Delhi. During this time, discussions are also possible on the security scenario of Jammu and Kashmir, the action to thwart the conspiracies of the enemies of the country, and the campaign to secure the Republic Day with better coordination. The Army Chief arrived in Udhampur on Wednesday evening on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

Soon after General MM Narwane assumed the new responsibility, he began his tours by visiting Siachen, the world's highest battle site in the Union Territory of Ladakh. After this, he learned the security situation of Jammu division. He has not visited Kashmir yet.
