India First Foundation (IFF) organized a panel discussion on 'Misinformation is a threat' in the Business School Auditorium of Jammu University. Director Information Dr. Syed Sehrish Asghar was present on the occasion.

He stressed the need to raise awareness to deal with this issue. He highlighted the necessary measures to limit the spread of fake news. Dr. Sehrish said that social media leaves a deep impact on the minds of the people, so every person associated with this field should discharge his role and responsibility with utmost care.

He elaborated on several initiatives being taken by the Information Department towards ensuring the dissemination of authentic news and facts. Along with this, Brig Brijesh Pandey and AIG Manoj Kumar Pandit shared their role and responsibility in this regard, saying that the police and the army have a huge role in dealing with misinformation in social media.

He stressed the need for timely intervention by government agencies to prevent the threat of fake news going viral in the social media world. The VC of JU also shared his views on the subject.
