Tata Motors today launched the new Harrier in India at the Auto Expo 2020 for an introductory price of Rs 13.69 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The 2020 Tata Harrier not only gets a new BS6-compliant engine but also a much-awaited automatic transmission. The bookings for the new Harrier are now open and the SUV would be available at the dealerships from later this month.

The new Harrier is now powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine that develops 170PS and 350Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, with an option for 6-speed automatic transmission. The SUV comes with three drive modes -- Normal, Rough and Wet -- that are paired with ESP terrain response modes.

The 2020 Tata Harrier, which is based on the Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture (OMEGA-ARC) derived from Land Rover's D8 platform, is available in five variants -- XE, XM, XT, XZ and XZ+. The automatic option is available with XM, XZ and XZ+ trims only. Below are the variant-wise prices (ex-showroom, India) of the new Harrier.

The 2020 Tata Harrier gets features like Xenon HID projector headlamps with LED DRLs, front fog lamps with cornering function, LED taillamps, shark fin antenna and 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The cabin of the new Harrier boasts of features like 7-inch colour TFT instrument cluster, multifunction steering wheel, 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, 9 JBL speakers, 6-way power-adjustable driver seat, fully automatic temperature control and panoramic sunroof, among others.

In terms of safety, the new Tata Harrier boasts of six airbags, advanced ESP (electronic stability program) with 14 additional functions, HHC (hill hold control, HDC (hill descent control) and reverse parking camera.

The 2020 Tata Harrier will rival the likes of second-generation Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Mahindra XUV500 and Jeep Compass.
