The deadly coronavirus epidemic that began to spread from China to Wuhan has reached nearly 31 countries in the world. Its patients have been confirmed in many countries including Australia. A team led by Indian-origin scientist SS Vasan is working to tackle the new type of virus.

CSIRO issued a statement that the purpose of this research is to understand properly how the coronavirus develops and how it affects the windpipe. It is undergoing testing at the High-Security Lab of the Animal Health Laboratory (AAHL) of Australia.

Coronavirus has been seen most in China. Since December, the virus has killed 636 people, while more than 31 thousand people have been infected with this virus. There is currently no treatment available for its prevention. Prior to this, about 650 people died in China and Hong Kong in 2002-03 due to severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS).

Symptoms of coronavirus include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath. In more severe cases, the infection can lead to pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure, and death. The Chinese National Health Commission has confirmed that the coronavirus is transmitted from person to person.
