Jammu and Kashmir dished out an all-round performance to thrash Tripura by 329 runs within three days to return to the top of the Ranji Trophy Elite Group C with 39 points at Maharaja Bir Bikram College Stadium, Agartala on Thursday. J&K won six of its eight matches with two matches remained draw till today.

Chasing an improbable fourth-innings target of 449 to win the match, Tripura were all out for 119 in 36.2 overs with Skipper Rasool returning innings’ best figures of five for 28. He had taken seven wickets in the first innings.

Tripura collapse began in the seventh over of the day when Rasool bowled Samrat Singha (6) and Bishal Ghosh (0) in his back to back ball.

After losing two wickets for 18 runs, skipper Parvez castled opener Pallab Das (13), Pratyush Singh (13) and Nirupam Sen Chowdhary (3) to break the backbone of Tripura batting. It became 113 for nine in the 36th over when Manisankar Murasingh (58) did not get the required elevation and Shubham Khajuria took a brilliant catch off the bowling of Abdul Samad. Murasingh smashed ten boundaries. In the 37th over, Abid Mushtaq took the tenth wicket of Rana Dutta (6) thus Tripura was bundled out at 118 runs.

Earlier resuming their second innings on day three at 49 for one, Shubam Khajuria (76 off 112 balls; 9x4s, 3x6s) and skipper Parvez Rasool (56 off 72 balls; 8x4s, 1×6) put together 125 runs for the fourth wicket to declare their second inning at 309 for nine in 65.2 overs, setting a stiff 449 target for Tripura. Opener Suryansh Raina (31 off 70 balls; 5x4s), Abdul Samad (56 off 56 ball; 2x4s, 3x6s), Aquib Nabi (30 off 44 runs; 2x4s, 2x4s) and Abid Mushtaq (29 off 18 balls; 2x4s, 2x6s) were the other contributors for J&K.
