Another arrest in DSP Devinder case

Another member of this network, Tarveer Barda, has been caught by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is investigating the police-terrorist nexus after DSP Devidar Singh was arrested from the police department with the accused. The court has sent Tanveer on a seven-day police remand.

The NIA had arrested another colleague Tanvir Ahmed Wani alias Tanvir Barda on 10 February in New Delhi on the basis of interrogation of DSP Devidar Singh and his terrorist accomplices. He was then underwent medical treatment at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi and then brought to Jammu.

He was produced in a special NIA court on Wednesday. In front of Judge Subhash Chandra Gupta, NIA Chief Investigating Officer Eddie Negi requested Tanveer to be given a 15-day remand. He told the court that the matter was very sensitive. He used to arrange money for the banned terrorist organization Hizb. The judge then pronounced the verdict of sending all the accused on seven days police remand. Along with this, instructed to conduct medical examination of the accused every 48 hours.

On January 11, the Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested DSP Devidar Singh, Hizb Commander Navid Mushtaq and Arif and Lashkar overground worker Irfan in a car at Al Stop Kulgam on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in south Kashmir. An assault rifle, three pistols, five grenades, 174 cartridges of assault rifle, 36 pistol cartridges and other items were recovered from them. Based on the interrogation of these people, the police also arrested Saeed Irfan, the brother of terrorist commander Naveed Mushtaq.

The NIA registered an FIR on January 17, taking over the investigation in the case. DSP Devidar Singh is currently lodged in Hiranagar Jail on judicial remand while Naveed Mushtaq, Arif, Irfan and Irfan Central Jail are in Kot Bhalwal.
