Political mercury is again rising on the formation of the Delimitation Commission in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP and Panthers Party are taking it as the right step, but other parties have started opposing it. In fact, the Central Election Commissioner nominated Sushil Chandra as its representative for the proposed Delimitation Commission of the state on Monday itself.
According to the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, seven seats will be increased in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly after delimitation. Before the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act was passed by Parliament in August last year, the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, comprising four seats in Ladakh, had 87 elected members and two nominated women legislators.
Apart from these, 24 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly were vacant from the quota of slave Kashmir. On this, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Prof. Saifuddin Soz said that delimitation should be done only after the formation of the Legislative Assembly in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Keep in mind the population and economic situation in the reporting Member: Mankotia - State head of Panthers Party Balwant Singh Mankotia said that a member of Jammu and Kashmir who will be appointed in the Delimitation Commission should be non-political and of good image. Public relations members of the commission should prepare their report after taking into consideration the population and economic condition of the area.
Jammu will get justice due to delimitation: Raina- BJP state president Ravindra Raina said that there have been conspiracies to keep Jammu politically weak. In such a situation, due to delimitation of assembly seats, there will be justice with Jammu division.
Delimitation is the need of the hour - Senior PDP leader Ved Mahajan has welcomed the steps taken to set up the Delimitation Commission. He said that with the delimitation of assembly seats, people's aspirations will be fulfilled. Delimitation of assembly seats is the need of the hour.
