A pilot flying a plane that was part of the Patiala Aviation Club was killed in an air crash in Patiala on Monday, officials said.

Gurpreet Singh Cheema, a Wing Commander with 3rd Air Squadron, died after the Micro Light plane he was flying crashed.

Not many details are known of the incident yet.

Used to train NCC cadets, a Micro Light plane has no engine. Once in the air, it flies using heat thermals from the air.

Another cadet, Vipan Kumar Yadav, has been admitted to the military hospital.
