Police detained Kashmiri Pandits going for peace march

Jammu and Kashmir police foiled peace march organized by Kashmiri Pandits. The organizers of the march were detained at the Srinagar International Airport itself. According to police sources, he was not allowed to organize the march. The Kashmiri Pandit was to take out a peace march on 28 February under the leadership of Kashmiri Migrant Return and Rehabilitation Committee Chairman Satish Mahaldar. He had already informed the media about it. Also, people of all communities of Kashmir were invited in it. Mahaldar had told that the march would begin from Batmaloo and would go through Idgah in downtown Srinagar to Pantha Chowk. He had said that this is a peace march and it will send a positive message. He also confirmed the Bollywood singer's involvement in it.

But as soon as he reached Srinagar International Airport on Friday, he was taken into custody by the police. He was then taken to the Kothibagh police station in Srinagar. Here he remained under police supervision throughout the day. According to police sources, they were not allowed to carry out the march. Therefore, he was taken into custody keeping in view the seriousness of the situation. According to sources, Satish Mahaldar was left for Delhi afternoon.
