DGP Dilbag Singh inaugurated women police station to help victims

Director-General of Police, Dilbag Singh on Friday inaugurated women police station and took a review of the security scenario in an official meeting at DPO, Baramulla.

He also presented DGP's medal to the 24 officers and jawans of North Kashmir Range in an investiture ceremony held at DPL, Baramulla. During the visit, the DGP was accompanied by IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar and was received by DIG North Kashmir Range, Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, SSP Baramulla, Abdul Qayoom and other jurisdictional officers.

Talking to reporters, DGP said that Jammu and Kashmir police is increasing its legal assistance and help to women victims by opening more separate women police stations. He said that in recent months three separate women police stations with the additional facility of counseling rooms and playing rooms for children have been opened in J&K and added that more police stations will be made operational in the future with the aim to serve the womenfolk legally.

He said that the crime against the women will be dealt by women officers/officials in these police stations, adding that opening of this Women Police Station will definitely provide an opportunity to the womenfolk of the respective area to approach Police regarding the crime against them and express their grievances more comfortably.

While chairing the security review meeting, the DGP complimented the Police, Army, BSF, CRPF and other Security Forces for their peace efforts. He said that the teamwork by different forces is being hailed at the highest level of government. He directed the officers to plug in any loopholes in the security grids in north Kashmir.

The DGP also attended the investiture ceremony first time held in North Kashmir range. While presenting DGP's medals to the 24 police personnel of the range for exhibiting excellent services to the people and the department, the DGP congratulated the awardees and their families. He stressed upon them to continue with their good work in the future as well.

The DGP on the occasion paid rich tribute to the martyrs of JK Police and other security forces who sacrificed their lives for integrity and sovereignty of the country and for the security of the people and their property. He said the department and its force is committed to looking after the families of martyrs.
