Dr Jitendra briefed about BRO road projects in Jammu

Director General, Border Road Organisation (BRO) Lieutenant General Harpal Singh met Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh and briefed him about current status of various roads and bridge projects coming up in the Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha Constituency.

For district Kathua, the Minister was informed that double laning of the road from Chadwal to Sanji-Morh is under progress and likely to be completed by June 2020. Double laning of the road is complete on Parmanand-Taragarh-NJS Parole 27.27 Km road, while work is in progress on Begwal bridge and Baknor bridge. The work has been completed at Shingwan bridge and going on over 250 meter bridge Tarnah-III.

Meanwhile, 300 meter Tarnah-II bridge is complete and approach work is in progress, which is also expected to complete in three months. 160 meter Tarnah-I bridge on Parole-Korepannu-Rajpura sector is complete and approach work is in progress, while 250 meter Bana Chak Nallah bridge, Baniyari bridge, and Bagh bridge work is in progress.

Director General, Border Road Organisation also informed that upgradation of Basohli-Bani 89 Km road from single lane to double lane is in progress and is scheduled to be completed this year. “Bani to Bhaderwah 77 Km road upgradation from single lane to double lane is in progress. It is planned for completion in 2021,” he added.

“For Dhar-Udhampur road, DPR for improvement from double lane to four lane from Km 125 to Km 130 is in progress. DPR for upgradation of Reasi-Arnas- Mahore road is in final stages and double laning is scheduled to be completed by 2022. Upgradation of Kishtwar-Dul road is scheduled for completion this year, while upgradation from single lane to double lane is in progress for Galhar-Gulabgarh-Sansari road. For 6.8 Km Chattergala tunnel, DPR has been conducted by BEACONS,” he asserted.

Dr. Jitendra Singh has personally taken up the matter with the Ministry of Defence considering its high budget cost. Gen Harpal Singh also gave feedback about certain projects, for which Dr. Jitendra Singh’s intervention was sought. These included upgradation of Phatala to Jakhani road, and Chakramore – Maharajpur and Rajbagh-Haria Chak road.
