Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia rattled the Congress by suddenly landing at the door of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday morning with Home Minister Amit Shah in tow.

By meeting the PM, Scindia has set the stage for his entry into the BJP closing behind him all doors of a possible reconciliation with the Congress.

After Congress president Sonia Gandhi refused an audience to Scindia earlier this week, Scindia was learnt to have made up his mind to quit.

He remained incommunicado as also 17 Congress MLAs who currently remain disengaged with the Congress.

The BJP legislature party is meeting in Bhopal at 7 pm, signalling a major crisis for the Congress government in the state.

Scindia, a former Guna MP, had been engaged in a turf war with Congress veterans CM Kamal Nath and former CM Digvijaya Singh, who were learnt to have been behind denying him a role as state party chief and of late also working to deny him a Rajya Sabha berth.

Scindia was seeking both a Rajya Sabha berth and state unit presidentship which Kamal Nath wasn’t keen on giving him.

Sonia depended on Nath in the matter plunging the party into a crisis in MP.

Scindia, a long-time aide of Rahul Gandhi and also the party’s chief whip during the 16th Lok Sabha, is likely to join the BJP anytime now.So
