The Jammu and Kashmir Government today said 1,433 travellers and persons in contact with suspected Covid cases had been enlisted for surveillance and, so far, only one case had tested positive in the Union Territory.

According to a media bulletin on the Covid released by the government, 1,178 persons had been kept under home quarantine while 17 were in hospital quarantine.

Persons who are under home surveillance stand at 80 while as 158 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period.

Further, the bulletin said 74 samples had been sent for testing of which 29 tested as negative and only one case had tested positive so far while as reports of 44 cases were awaited till March 12.

The government said Covid lab testing facilities had been started at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Soura, Srinagar and Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu. One more lab at Government Medical College, Srinagar, had been operationalised today.

Moreover, adequate numbers of N-95 masks and personal protective equipment kits had been made available for medical and associated staff.

The government has urged all social, religious and political organisations to avoid large gatherings.
