Days after meeting Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, former Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday announced to launch his YouTube channel.

Called ‘Jittega Punjab’ it will air his views. It will be launched on Saturday.

The announcement comes at a time when the Capt Amarinder Singh-led Congress government is planning to take to the people its achievements on completing three years in office.

Setting to rest all speculation about his rejoining the Punjab cabinet, Sidhu in an official statement said the channel would be a platform to air and share views in a simple and understandable form.

Experts say he is doing so after getting a go-ahead from the party high command to point out shortcomings of the state government.

The palpable resentment among MLAs over the bureaucratic control over the government and alleged complicity with Akalis on the issues of drugs, sand mining and transport mafia could offer a platform to disgruntled leaders to air their views.

The digital platform could be an effective platform to challenge the Chief Minister on the issues of public concern.

Sidhu, in a statement, said the channel invited all like-minded people for discussions, interviews and exchange of views. It is a platform to propel Punjab towards revival and renaissance, he added.

After nine months of contemplation, the former minister will be vocal on the burning issues of Punjab and strive to carve out a roadmap for the resurrection of Punjab as a welfare state.

He said the channel is inspired by the path of universal brotherhood, tolerance, love and peace shown by Guru Nanak.

The icons of the channel--Maharaja Ranjit Singh and Bhagat Singh--are the epitomes of our glorious past, good governance, courage and sacrifice and role models for our future generations, Sidhu said.
