One more virus death takes toll to 8 in J&K, 19 new cases reported

The death toll due to COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir has risen to eight after a coronavirus positive elderly woman died at a hospital here while 19 new cases were reported on Tuesday, all from the Valley, officials said.
“The elderly woman died today. She was diabetic and also hypertensive,” the officials said.

The 80-year-old woman from Srinagar city is the eighth COVID-19 patient and also the third woman to die of the disease in the Union Territory.
Jammu and Kashmir has reported 565 positive cases of COVID-19 so far. As many as 176 of them have recovered.

According to the daily Media Bulletin, 381 cases are Active Positive out of 565 positive patients. So far, 68262 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which include 6364 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 255 in Hospital Quarantine, 381 in hospital isolation and 9082 under home surveillance. Besides, 52,172 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The Bulletin said that out of 16,619 test results available, 16,054 samples have tested as negative till April 28, 2020.
